Are you passionate about holistic wellness and eager to share your expertise to uplift African communities?

We’re seeking volunteer facilitators for our Wellness Advocacy Training Program! This 12-week interactive journey is designed to equip aspiring wellness advocates with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to promote holistic health: mental, physical, emotional and social, tailored specifically for African communities.

What is the Wellness Advocacy Training Program?

The Wellness Advocacy Training Program is a comprehensive 12-week initiative designed to empower community leaders with a deep understanding of wellness beyond just physical health. This program embraces a holistic approach that includes mental, emotional, social, and even spiritual well-being, all while being culturally sensitive to the unique needs and traditions of African communities, particularly those of African women.

The program covers critical topics such as community care, mental health, cultural perspectives on wellness, and sustainable program development. By the end of the journey, participants will be equipped with the tools and confidence to implement impactful wellness programs in their communities.

Your Role as a Facilitator

Session Facilitation:

Guide weekly training sessions, covering key aspects of wellness, community care, program design, and more.

Mentorship:

Provide one-on-one mentorship to participants, helping them refine their ideas, navigate challenges, and develop impactful wellness initiatives.

Culturally
Sensitive Guidance:

Approach sensitive topics like mental health, reproductive health, and gender wellness with cultural awareness and respect, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Collaboration Support:

Assist participants in building partnerships with local healthcare providers, leveraging your experience and network to connect them with valuable resources.

Feedback & Evaluation:

Offer constructive feedback during pitch sessions, program development workshops, and the implementation phase to help participants strengthen their initiatives.

We are seeking facilitators with diverse backgrounds and expertise to align with our program topics. Your skills and experience will be crucial in guiding participants through a comprehensive journey of learning and advocacy:

Community Health & Advocacy Experts

Lead discussions on understanding wellness and the importance of advocacy. Share insights on mobilizing communities for collective health and the foundational principles of wellness advocacy in an African context.

Gender & Reproductive Health Advocates

Lead sessions focused on the unique wellness challenges faced by African women, including reproductive health, nutrition, and maternal health. Help participants understand systemic barriers and societal expectations affecting women's wellness.

Mental Health Specialists

Facilitate sessions on mental health awareness, providing participants with the tools to handle mental health conversations responsibly. Your role will include teaching skills like active listening, empathy, and guiding participants on referring individuals to professional help.

Digital Communication & Social Media Experts

Guide participants on how to leverage social media and digital tools for advocacy. Teach effective messaging strategies that resonate with diverse audiences and help drive community engagement.

Cultural & Historical Wellness Practitioners

Share knowledge about traditional African healing practices and explore the impact of colonialism and globalization on African health systems. Your expertise will help participants rediscover and integrate indigenous knowledge into modern wellness advocacy.

Program Design & Sustainability Coaches

Mentor participants in creating their own wellness programs, conducting community needs assessments, and developing sustainable initiatives. Share insights on funding opportunities and best practices for long-term program success.

What We Need From You

Experience in Community Health or Advocacy

A strong understanding of holistic wellness and the challenges faced by African communities.

Facilitation & Mentorship Skills

Ability to engage groups, lead interactive discussions, and provide constructive feedback.

Cultural Sensitivity

Experience working with diverse communities and handling sensitive topics with care.

Commitment & Flexibility

Availability to guide participants through the 12-week program, with a willingness to adapt to their needs.
