In a world that often demands we choose a single path, Ruvimbo, fondly known as Ruvi, has built a career proving that passion and strategy can coexist beautifully. As a strategic communications specialist, entrepreneur, and facilitator, Ruvi is on a mission to help women design lives that are intentional, unapologetic, and uniquely their own.
Foundations in Communications

Your career started in strategic communications. What initially drew you
to this field, and what has been the most fulfilling part of working in this
space?
Honestly, my career in strategic communications found me more than I found it. I started out studying finance, thinking it was the ‘safe’ choice, but it didn’t take long for me to realise something was missing—there was no spark, no sense of connection. I’ve always thrived in spaces where creativity, human connection, and strategy collide, so it felt like coming up for air when I stumbled into marketing and communications. It was the perfect blend of my analytical mindset and my love for storytelling—a space where I could think strategically but still let my creative side run wild.
The most fulfilling part? Hands down, it’s seeing the impact of a well-crafted narrative. There’s something satisfying about developing a campaign that resonates with an audience and drives real, measurable results. Whether it’s helping a client find their voice or watching a strategy come to life in ways that surprise even me, it’s that tangible difference—that moment when you know your work has genuinely landed—that keeps me hooked. It’s not just about the ‘what’ we communicate; it’s about the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ that makes it meaningful.
How has your background in communications shaped the way you
approach entrepreneurship and facilitating?
My background in communications has been the backbone of how I approach entrepreneurship and facilitation. Early on, I realised that every venture—a startup, a project, or even a personal brand—has a story waiting to be told. And the way you tell that story? It can be the difference between blending in and standing out. It’s always been about crafting narratives that feel authentic, clear, and deeply human. Whether I’m pitching a business idea or sharing a post on social media, I want it to resonate, to mean something to the person on the other side.
As an entrepreneur, I don’t just see myself selling a product or service—I’m inviting people to join me on a journey. It’s about connection, not just transaction. My communications training has taught me to listen first, to really hear what my audience cares about, and then to tailor my message in a way that speaks to their needs and values. It’s not just about what I want to say; it’s about what they need to hear. That’s the beauty of it—when you get it right, it’s not just a pitch or a campaign; it’s a conversation.
Exploring Entrepreneurship
From strategic communications to food and wellness, when did you first
start feeling the pull toward entrepreneurship?
I realised that my journey wasn’t a sudden pivot but a natural evolution of my passions. While my background in strategic communications equipped me with a knack for storytelling and connecting with audiences, it was in the kitchen that I discovered my creative haven. My entrepreneurship lecturer, Mrs Madziba, always saw the potential in me, hinting that I had an entrepreneurial spirit. However, I’ve always seen myself less as a conventional entrepreneur and more as a brand owner—someone who crafts a narrative and experience around food. In a way, my venture is the perfect marriage of my two worlds: the strategic thinker who loves to connect with audiences and the creative soul who finds joy in the kitchen. It’s not just about food or wellness—it’s about building something that feels authentically me.
Tell us about Homemade by Ruvi. What inspired you to start sharing recipes, and how did that evolve into launching your spice blends?
Homemade by Ruvi was born out of my genuine love for food and the joy I find in cooking. The kitchen has always been my therapeutic haven, where creativity and comfort come together. I believe cooking should be seen as a love language rather than a chore, a perspective I wanted to share with everyone. I began by sharing my favourite recipes, inviting others to experience the happiness and satisfaction of a well-prepared meal.
As I continued to explore flavours and experiment in the kitchen, I realised that seasoning plays a pivotal role in transforming everyday dishes into memorable experiences. That insight sparked the evolution of my journey, leading me to develop my spice blend. With just a little garlic, a bit of ginger, and my signature blends, you can create a flavorful stew or marinade that embodies the ethos of Homemade by Ruvi—making cooking fun, accessible, and full of love.
The Intersection of Passion & Strategy
Between being a communication specialist, entrepreneur, and facilitator, how do you balance these different identities while staying true to yourself?
Balancing these roles—communication specialist, entrepreneur, and facilitator—has been less about juggling and more about weaving them into a cohesive story. My background in communications is at the core of it all, which acts as my anchor. It allows me to articulate my vision clearly and authentically, no matter the space I’m in. Whether strategising for a client, building my brand, or guiding others in a workshop, I always draw on that passion for storytelling and connection.
Interestingly, these roles don’t feel separate to me—they feel like different expressions of the same truth. As a communication specialist, I’m crafting narratives; as an entrepreneur, I’m living one; and as a facilitator, I’m helping others find theirs. Each role informs and enriches the others, creating this beautiful synergy that keeps me grounded and inspired. At the end of the day, staying true to myself means embracing the fact that these identities aren’t competing they’re complementing, each one adding a new layer to my journey.
Were there any challenges in being so multifaceted, and how did you
navigate moments of doubt or overwhelm?
Right now, I’m in a season of bringing my dreams to life—finally putting ideas into motion that I’ve carried in my heart for years. But let me be honest: it’s not all smooth sailing. There are days when I feel stuck, unsure, or even overwhelmed by the weight. Imposter syndrome loves to sneak in, whispering, ‘Who do you think you are?’ And sometimes, I wonder if I’m spreading myself too thin, trying to wear so many hats at once.
When those moments hit, I’ve learned to pause and breathe. I lean on my incredible tribe mentors, friends, and loved ones who remind me of my ‘why’ when I lose sight. I also remind myself that none of us have it all figured out. We’re all experiencing life for the first time, figuring it out as we go. That perspective helps me take the pressure off. I’ve seen it as a learning journey where the best I can do is take the leap, give it my all, and trust that even the stumbles are part of the growth. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being brave.
Guiding Others on Their Own Journeys
Your Plan 2024 and Plan 2025 movements are all about helping women
design intentional lives. What led you to create this?
I’ve always dreamed of a world where women feel empowered to live unapologetically—to chase their dreams with confidence and purpose. That empowerment came when I started taking intentional steps toward my goals, turning big, overwhelming dreams into actionable, bite-sized plans. I realised that so many of us have these incredible ideas swirling in our heads, but without a clear roadmap, they can feel out of reach. That’s why I curated the Plan 2024 and Plan 2025 journal—to give women a blueprint for turning their dreams into reality. It’s not just about setting goals; it’s about breaking them down into manageable tasks and habits that lead to real, tangible results. With the movement, every year, we come together as a community to share our visions, support one another, and find solutions to our challenges. We’ve taken it even further this year by introducing accountability partners and quarterly check-ins. It’s all about keeping each other motivated, celebrating the wins—big and small and reminding ourselves that we’re not alone on this journey. Together, we’re designing lives that feel intentional, fulfilling, and authentically ours.
What have been some of the most powerful transformations you’ve
witnessed from those who’ve engaged with your planning sessions and
guided journals?
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is witnessing transformations—big and small. I’ve seen women rebuild confidence and chase long-held dreams. But the quieter shifts stay with me: setting boundaries, prioritising self-care, or simply putting themselves first. One woman shared how breaking her goals into bite-sized steps helped her feel less overwhelmed and more motivated to embrace change. These moments remind me that transformation isn’t about perfection but progress—one intentional choice at a time.
If someone is feeling stuck between multiple passions, what advice
would you give them?
First, let me say this: you don’t have to choose just one passion. Life isn’t about picking a single lane and staying in it forever—it’s about exploring, experimenting, and seeing where your curiosity takes you. Start small. Dip your toes into each passion intentionally, whether through a side project, a class, or even just dedicating an hour a week to it. Pay attention to what lights you up, makes you lose track of time, and what feels like play rather than work.
Permit yourself to pivot, to change your mind, and to grow as you go. Clarity doesn’t come from overthinking or waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment—it comes from taking action, even if it’s messy at first. Trust that the journey itself will reveal what’s meant for you. And remember, you’re not stuck—you’re just in the process of discovering what’s next.
